The following "Sample Benefits Design" will illustrate the basic components of an LTCI policy, and help you understand the many varied possibilities in designing your plan. Each selection affects the premium you will pay, and of course each benefit and range varies somewhat by insurance carrier.

There are also numerous "riders" that can be attached to an LTCI policy, allowing for even greater flexibility in plan design. Some examples include life insurance, nonforfeiture benefit, waiver of premium, and restoration of benefits.
